Support a Bhutanese Youth Leader

Education is one of our 4 pillars of sustainability and we work with a number of schools so they can adopt part of the Trail. We have also partnered with the Gyalsung National Service to develop a multi-day, land-based experiential education curriculum. As a pilot program, and to coincide with the official launch of the Trans Bhutan Trail, we are now organizing a Scout Walk in September 2022.

24 scout leaders, symbolically representing each of the 20 Districts and 4 Towns will be the first to retrace the footsteps of their ancestors after 60 long years of disuse. The team will begin their expedition in Haa and their 35 days’ worth of journey will end in Trashigang, traversing through 403 kilometres of land. The journey will test their endurance but it will also give them the opportunity to explore nature, and their own capacities of leadership, teamwork, and self-sufficiency. As they explore their country, the youths will reconnect with their cultural heritage and contribute to the society through numerous trail events and activities, thereby enhancing local community involvement.

Along with it, a documentary film will also be produced to showcase the trail, the surrounding localities, and the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage of Bhutan.

How you can help

Please consider contributing all or part of the $1,875US needed to provide each scout with food and equipment, provide guides, ensure the safety of the group and document the adventure for the 35 day expedition.

You can also support us by spreading the word on Social Media or through the good ol’ word of mouth. By encouraging your family members and friends to take part in this event, you will be making an even greater impact.

Thank you for your support!
